DESCRIPTION
In Sanskrit, the Third Eye Chakra is known as Ajna, which means "Beyond Wisdom".
Mantra: Aum. I see...
Color: Indigo
Location: Between eyebrows in the center of the head.
Function: Intuition and intellect. When things are seen in a dream or the minds' eye it is seen by the Third Eye Chakra. Allows telepathy and soul travel.
Balanced: A balanced Third Eye Chakra is not attached to any outcome of any situation. Very open-minded and focused. Can see reality. Has vision, intuition, insight, and wisdom. Is clairvoyant and can perceive movements of energy and dimensions. Is connected to the untouchable, unseeable, and unhearable. Aligned with their own higher good.
Overactive: An overactive Third Eye Chakra has constant thoughts and can not make decisions. Has poor judgment and lacks focus. Hallucinates and is delusional, is out of touch with reality. Paranoid, anxious, and overwhelmed. Very judgmental.
Blocked: A blocked Third Eye Chakra has no direction, is stagnant, and is lazy-minded. Can not let go of the past and is afraid of the future. Fights change. Highly aggressive with others' viewpoints. Opinionated in their beliefs and closed-minded about it.
Anatomy: pituitary and penial glands, eyes, brain, ears, and nervous system.
Element: Light
Oils/Scents: Angelica root, frankincense, and rosemary.
Herbs: Calendula, chamomile, fennel, ginger, lemongrass, and poppy seed.
Associated Deadly Sin: Greed.
Foods/Drinks: Wine, grape juice, and berries such as blueberries, blackberries, plums, purple grapes, and raspberries.
TODAYS' MEDITATION:
I prefer to meditate as soon as I wake up. First, drink a nice glass of water and blow your nose. Then sit in the Sukhasana pose, which is Indian style making sure your spine is straight (Head over heart, heart over hips). We are now going to do Nadi Sodhana (opposite nostrils breathing). Take your thumb and plug your left nostril, breathe in, switch your pinky to cover your right nostril while releasing your thumb from your left nostril, breathe out, and repeat for a total of four rounds.
Next, we go to YouTube and put on our favorite guided Third Eye Chakra meditation. My personal favorite is called Chants for Third Eye Chakra Healing by Meditative Mind. If you can find it they have one for each of the seven Chakras, find all seven and save them.
TODAYS' YOGA POSES:
The very first thing I recommend is talking to your doctor to be sure that you are healthy enough for this or for any exercise regimen before you start.
The second step is to look up the exact correct ways to do each pose. I recommend a site called Yoga Journal.
Each week I will pick three poses per Chakra. Try to hold each pose as long as you can and do not forget to breathe. For today
Balasana
Virabhadrasana III
Ardha pincha mayursana
If you want to do an entire yoga sequence I recommend YouTubing "Yoga with Adrienne". She is amazing.
